THE GYM Raises Over $12,000 For Homes For Veterans

20141254a21408ecae3THE GYM recently hosted several fundraising events and fitness classes for Homes For Veterans. The events were held at both the Montvale and Englewood locations with all funds going to Homes For Veterans.

THE GYM’s efforts raised a total of $12,196.00 for the Bergen County-based charity.

Homes For Veterans is a 501(c) (3) charitable veterans organization whose mission is to modify the homes of disabled veterans to make them handicap accessible and barrier free. Many veterans are unable to attain the resources needed to buy or modify their homes for handicap access, so all modifications made to their homes by the organization are done at no cost to them.

Both the Englewood and Montvale locations participated in the fundraising efforts and sold commemorative t-shirts. In Montvale, special Yoga, Spin, Kettle Bell, Barre and Boot Camp classed were conducted. In addition a Push-Up contest among the trainers and fitness instructors was conducted. Lisa Bruchalski, Group Fitness Director in Montvale remarked, “There was a wonderful aura of energy coming from our staff and our members knowing that we were part of something special; a chance to give back to our veterans whose sacrifices help to make our daily lives better. It was a true win-win situation, and I am extremely grateful to our members and staff that made this effort for Homes For Veterans such a great success.”

In Englewood, there was a dedicated Veterans Day Walk-A-Thon. The 12-hour Veteran Walk-A-Thon to help illustrate the grueling physical exertion our soldiers experience under combat conditions. All classes on that day were part of the Boot Camp Blastthat helped raise money for the charity.

Nurit Chasmin, Group Fitness Director in Englewood, added, “I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to support such a wonderful organization as Homes For Veterans, and it brings me great joy to contribute to such a worthy and important cause right here in our back yard. I want to thank the tremendous support we received from both our staff and members. We simply could not have accomplished this without them.”
