One guy is 41, the other is 72. One is from Japan, the other is from Brooklyn. One is metal, the other is blues and jazz. They sound like an odd couple — but guitarists Ko Nakamura of Park Ridge and Gary Mettler of Paramus have been making beautiful music together for 12 years.
“It’s really a synergistic thing,” says Mettler, the 72-year-old, Brooklyn-born, jazz half of the duo. “We read each other, without looking at each other. We just feel it. I’ll know right away.”
Jointly known as The G-Man Power Duo, the twosome have released a CD, “Eclecxia,” and can be heard playing their unique mix of originals and covers like “All Along the Watchtower” and “Heartbreak Hotel” at local venues some 40 times a year.
They’ll be at G.W. Grill, 2139 Hudson Terrace, Fort Lee, at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Info: 201-947-2440, gmanband.com.
