“Celtic Nights” at Bergen Pac

CelticCeltic Nights will take its audience on into the world of Irish folklore during its performance next Thursday at The Bergen Performing Arts Center, 30 N. Van Brunt St., Englewood.

The show presents a journey in eight minute snippets of a people leaving and arriving, their lives spent in a world searching for a place better than Ireland or half as good.

Celtic Nights is filled with laughter, sadness, melancholy, a sense of who we are and who our children will grow up to be, according to a press release for the show. “Its goal is to capture the essence of a great people from a small Island and their journey of hope and desire,” the release said.

Beautiful imagery and costumes enhance the experience.

Songs will be sung with the audience becoming a part of the story on stage.

The cast includes three male vocalists with three female singers, six of Ireland’s most talented international dancers and two musicians.

Celtic Nights is a two hour showcase which also informs on the influence of the old music on what became American sound – whether it be Bluegrass, Appalachian, Country and Western or the great songs and ballads from Shenandoah to the songs of The American Civil War .

The show is at 8 p.m. with tickets ranging between $39 and $99. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com or bergenpac.org or by calling the box office at 201-227-1030.
